Permaculture

Permaculture (permanent agriculture) is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. The goal is the harmonious integration of landscape and people providing their food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way. Without permanent agriculture there is no possibility of a stable social order.

The founders, Bill Mollison and David Holmgren, edited their first book Permaculture 1 in 1988 and since then it has spread to the whole world as a systemic approach to working with nature and not against her. It is built on explicit values of: care of the Earth and care of people and sharing of surplus. Permaculture is an integrated part of the Ecovillage movement, which uses its design principles along with social and other dimensions in the holistic design of settlements.

Permaculture Magazine
is a global permaculture magazine published in England by Maddy and Tim Harland. In 2007 they published Earth Care Manual by Patrick Whitefield  for temperate climates. They also publish regularly an Earth Care Catalogue.
