The Emerging, Holistic Worldview Awakening and Transformation of Consciousness Reconnecting to Nature Health and Healing Socially Engaged Spirituality

Other CulturesIt should be noted that the above historical description is very Eurocentric. Many other cultures never experienced the Cartesian/Newtonian paradigm, for example many indigenous peoples, who have always had a more life-based worldview, similar in many ways to what we call the new paradigm, which may not be considered very new at all by such people. Africa, South America, India, Japan and China have all followed different paths from Europe. The spiritual worldview of the East is represented today by, for example, The Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh, Sarvodaya (Sri Lanka), Zen in Japan, Tao (China), Sahaj Marg and other Hindu systems. These traditions have always maintained a more holistic worldview and have much to teach people in the West. Thomas Berry, for example, sees all these spiritual cultures as contributing to reinventing ourselves as humans. However, in spite of historical differences, a shift in paradigms today is likely to be universal because we are now all connected via the Internet. |
