The ChakrasThe concept of a chakra system in the body originated in the ancient spiritual traditions of India, and is widely accepted today on many spiritual paths. The chakras are said to be energy centers located along the spine, but are not yet measurable by modern scientific techniques. They are said to be measurable, however, and consistently so, by many spiritual teachers and advanced students. There are normally said to be seven chakras—three “lower” chakras, the heart chakra, and three “higher” chakras. The heart holographically contains all the chakras. In Christian esoteric teachings there are four centers and when they are aligned you reach what is called quintessentia. The heart thus includes the three upper chakras. These teachings also refer to the hieros gamos, or holy matrimony, when the female left and the masculine right sides are balanced. |
